September '20 Online Reviews

Phoenix Colossal Comic Collections,  Review by Aarev

It's basically a bunch of comics about Phoenix and Phoenix studio, where people have made lots of little comics and drawings and collected them all in one book. It's really cool, there are lots of different themes like animals, Space and the 1990's. You never know what to expect. It's really fun, there's this slug detective, he's so weird and so funny!

Rated: 5/5 Reallys "so many different comics and I liked all of them"

The Thief Lord by Cornelia Funke, Review by Noah

Really interesting, sometimes it gets a bit boring, but then it always gets exciting again. Two boys, their parents die in a car crash recently. One gets sent to an orphanage and the other one goes to stay with their aunt -she's not nice, she says really hurtful things. Beau is really kind and he always wants to be with his brother, but they're only allowed to see each other once a month. So they run away to Venice, since their mother used to tell them stories about it. Now there are people on their trail, and they know they are in Venice. They're hiding out with street kids in an abandoned old theatre. Their street friend steals stuff from houses and they sell it for him, no one knows where he lives though...

Rated: 5/5 Reallys "There's a lot of different themes and lots of stuff happens. It's a stand alone story. It's amazing!"

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Cabin Fever by Jeff Kinney, Review by Zara

About this power outage and there's a blizzard. The basement gets flooded which makes Greg's mum really sad. They need food so they get cans and Greg has this gobstopper.

Rated: 2/5 Reallys "I got this series from my cousin, I had already read it once, so maybe I found it boring because of that."

Wicked!: The Slobberers by Paul Jennings and Morris Gleitzman, Review by Atticus

There are four books in this series. Two kids, Dawn and Rory get attacked by really creepy worms that follow them. They escape from their hometown with their grandpa, and are driving down this creepy road when a snail jumps out at their car and leads them to a tree....

It's them against the slobberers!

Rated: 4/5 Reallys "Very creepy, so good so far"

Firstlife by Gena Showalter, Review by Jaxon

In this book your first life is just the beginning. After you die, you go on to a new life either as a member of Troika, where freedom and feelings are valued over materialism, or Myriad which values wealth, appearance and power. The main character is Ten, who is currently in her first life and who is in love with numbers. Her parents send her to a what is effectively a prison, in order to force her to choose their chosen afterlife destination: Myriad.

Rated: 5/5 "very funny and very epic"
