Reviews for March - from the Albert Park club

Warriors series by Erin Hunter - reviewed by Annabelle

It's about a cat clan with 1 cat as a leader.  I like the characters, you read about them growing old and new ones that come up.  I really like them because of the adventure.  They are also very long, lots in the series and very interesting.

Brisingr by Christopher Paolini - reviewed by Annabelle

It’s very mysterious I had to resist the urge to flip to the back of the book and read the ending.  The main characters are a boy, his cousin and a dragon and how they battle a bad magician (otherwise known as a ‘spellcaster’).  It’s about adventure and battle!  Mystery and action!

Five go to Smuggler's Top by Enid Blyton - reviewed by Alex

I’ve already read series 1 – 4. I really like them.  Dick, Julien, Anne, George and Timmy the Dog go on lots of adventures to different places and solve mysteries. I want to read all of the Famous Five series.

The changeling by Sean Williams - reviewed by Emma

Ros has the power of the changeling which can be used for good or evil.  He runs away from his family and is befriended by an invisible entity who wants to be his friend and teaches him how to use his powers.  I loved this book a lot!

The pearl of Tiger Bay by Gabrielle Wang - reviewed by Kerstin

The main character is Annie who moves from the city to a seaside town, and hears of the mysterious Pearl Hotel  The Pearl is a former grand hotel that is now run down, but still inhabited by the mysterious Madame Orlenka.  She has not spoken to anyone since the mysterious disappearance of her daughter by the sea 30 years previously.  Some townsfolk want to knock down the old hotel because they think it is a fire risk.  But is that the real reason?  Annie and her new friend Jin must find out and save The Pearl.  A good read, I wanted to keep reading it as I wanted to find out what happened to The Pearl and to Madame Orlenka and her daughter. A real page turner.

Bluestar's prophecy by Erin Hunter - reviewed by Annabelle

This book is about a clan of cats living in a forest and their adventures.  A prophecy promises Thunderclan that she will become leader but also foreshadows her demise.  I really enjoyed the book.  I also like that it is part of a BIG series.  It gets too interesting and I didn’t want it to end.

Rated: 4.5 out of 5

The great big enormous book of Tashi by Anna Fienberg - reviewed by Alex

This book has all the Tashi Stories in one big book.  Most of the stories were good except for Tashi and The Magic Bus which I didn,t really understand.

Rated: 5 out of 5

Mr Badger and the Missing ApeMr Badger and the Big Surprise by Leigh Hobbs - reviewed by Kerstin

These books are part of the latest Mr Badger Series by Leigh Hobbs.  It is about Mr Badger who works as a manager at the Grand Bouble Hotel, where adventure and surprises always happen.  A good first chapter book for early readers. It is easy to follow and amusing.  Not as funny as some of his other books about Old Tom and Horrible Harriet but still good.

Rated: 4 out of 5
