July reviews from Albert Park...

Ivy + Bean: Doomed to dance by Annie Barrows - reviewed by Jo

Ivy and Bean start ballet classes but realise they don’t really like it, especially as their part in the ballet production is as two squids … not wearing cool costumes as they’d hoped.  So they plan to run away which involves going on a field trip.  I really like all of it!

Rated 4.5 ... recommended for 6-9 year olds - "they would like this book"

Harry Potter and the goblet of fire by J. K. Rowling - reviewed by Emma

Harry competes in the tri-wizard tournament, there are four contestants competing to get the Tri-wizard Cup (Quidditch World Cup).  I enjoyed it, there is lots of detail and it makes you feel like you are there.  I recommend this book to anyone who likes magic and adventure.  I would have liked it to be a bit funnier.

Rated 4.7 - "I never give perfect scores!" ...  recommeneded for those 8 and up.

Midnight : Warriors, the new prophecy by Erin Hunter - reviewed by Annabel

This book is the first book in the newest series of Warriors, which is about a clan of feral cats.  This book follows the next generation of cats.  Brambleclaw has a dream that is a sign from his Warrior ancestors of a new meeting place. It was disappointing because they did not get to finish their journey in this book.

Rated 4.9 ¾ - "I was a bit disappointed." ... recommended for readers who are 7-12 and who like cats!

The charm bracelet : bk. 1 of the Fairy Realm series by Emily Rodda - reviewed by Alex G.

Jessie lives in Blue Moon with her grandma which has a secret garden into the magical realm of fairies, gnomes and unicorns. Her Grandma is the real queen of this realm but has lost her charm bracelet and cannot re-enter this magical realm. Jessie and the people in the magical realm have to find the bracelet and stop the real queens evil cousin from ruling it.

Rated 5 - "I really like this book because it has a lot of magic and fantasy."

Nancy Drew and the secret of Shadow Ranch by Carolyn Keene - reviewed by Holly

The three main characters Nancy, Bess and George go to Shadow Ranch in Arizona.  There is a curse at Shadow Ranch and a ghost horse appears a lot.  Nancy and her friend need to solve the mystery.  I wanted it to go on for longer so I was a bit disappointed.

Rated 4.9 ... recommended for anyone 8 and over who likes mystery stories.

The Famous Five series by Enid Blyton - reviewed by Alex D.

I have been reading a lot of the books from this series and I really like them.  All the adventures involve the characters Julian, Dick, Anne, Georgina (but everyone calls her George) and Timmy the dog.  They usually go away somewhere like a farm and have to solve a mystery and have an adventure.  I really like mystery too.

Rated 4.9
