August reviews from St Kilda

The dreaming by Queenie Chan - reviewed by Louise

It’s about twins Amber and Jeanie who go to an exclusive Australian boarding school. They are pretty smart. The school is surrounded by bushland and whenever someone goes into it they disappear – this happens to one of their friends. The twins keep having creepy dreams - Amber dreams they are in Victorian finery and blood drips off the trees. Jeanie has a different dream, and she’s in the exact same place but she hears a girl screaming, and then a ‘chop’ like an axe. She keeps walking and she comes to a boarding school but it is just a painting and an axe comes up behind her… and she wakes up. The vice principal at the school is a mad creepy woman who hates the twins and she says things like "I know who you are and I will turn you into ghosts". When she wakes up from the dream one of her friends is standing over her saying "molly" (who is one of the room mates) "is gone".

This is the first in The dreaming series and it’s in the comic collection.
