October reviews from Albert Park

Boy : tales of childhood by Roald Dahl - reviewed by Emma B.

It is like an autobiography on Roald Dahl. It tells about his early life, up to the bits he remembers.

Rated:  4/5 - There's detail in it and it is 'descriptive'. I liked it!

The dead by David Gatward - reviewed by Che

It is about a boy, Lazarus Stone, who smells disgusting smells and doesn't know what it is and then finds a 'skinless' person in his loungeroom. He is here with a message: "the dead are coming". There is a 'force field' on earth and if this cracks the dead will come through.

I haven't read the whole story yet, but have met 3 characters so far.

Rated:  3/5 - I like how you are following the story, but suddenly realize you don't actually know the storyline. It's not what you expected.

Isle of the dead (Deltora Quest 3, bk. 3) - reviewed by Alex W.

Leif, Barda and Jasmine go to their next goal on the wild west coast where they must find the 'Third Sister'. The Shadowlord knows of their quest and every move they are making! A strong wind has blown them west into the sea, and Leif & Barda jump into the sea, but Leif can't go beyond Deltora borders. They find a ghost ship and have to play a 'game' (answering questions) to escape it.

Rated:  5/5 - I like how they (the characters) have to decide where they are going to go next - whether to take the easy route or the hard route. It seems they always take the hard one, as the easy one is always blocked by something. It is full of adventure and mystery! I would recommend it to people who have read the previous books in the series. Once you've read one in the series, you will get hooked on the next one! It would be good to read the "Narnia" series by C.S. Lewis if you like this series!

Horse crazy : the complete adventures of Bonnie and Sam by Alison Lester - reviewed by Alex G.

There are four different stories in this book and I've read "The circus pony" and "The shadow brumby" so far. Bonnie and Sam are best friends and absolutely love horses. There are a lot of horses around Currawong Creek, and they make sure the horses are okay and then go home. I like the way the story is about the girls helping out and caring for horses. It is also about their relationship and friendship as they set out on their adventures 'together'.

Rated:  4.5/5

The dragon book : magical tales from the masters of modern fantasy - reviewed by Annabelle

This is a collection of tales about dragons, told by different authors. It was fascinating to learn about the legends surrounding the dragons, and was interesting as the stories were told from the dragon's point of view, as well as a person's point of view. It is a good book for dragon lovers. It has small chapters and two longer stories so it can be a five minute read or longer if you wish.

Rated:  5/5 - It was interesting and nice to read.
